Here I sit in all my state
whilst they say 'cannot' and 'must not'
bumbling fools, all
though they have loyalty to their name
one must praise God
for these simple treasures
Yet as I stand to emphasise
my regal power, a hand held up
they deliver a blow not to my head -
but to my heart and my stomach
and I sit again and watch
bearded faces look away from me
A wife! And does he love?
it is true, I know, and I already feel
my heart crumbling, closing -
as I hear a murmur around me.
She will not wait as I shed my tears;
my one true beloved. She will not suffer
for my mistake
And there they stand
that would make the queen a whore...
and now dismissed, I cannot bear to look
upon the once so tender face.
I endure.
Duty first. Self second.
So it must be -
and so it will be
even so for four score years.

Hades and Persephone
"Hades!" she screamed in rage. Silk curtains tore as nails were raked across them. Pillows were swept to the floor and set upon; with a ripping sound there were feathers adrift in the air.
She collapsed amid the chaos, sobbing. "I hate you. I hate you!" Her voice broke into the motionless air, hung amid the feathers, shivered in its anger.
He stood with shadowed eyes on the other side of the closed door. He knew she thought he couldn't hear her, knew she thought he was elsewhere attending to business as usual--knew what she thought of him. When her furious sobs had given way to shuddering breaths he said quietly, "The door isn't locked," an

Medusa, a Girl Violated and Used in Life and Death
You were not born a monster;
You were among the fairest of daughters,
Honey-tressed, a chaste priestess
Of Athena, a maiden goddess.
Unwisely, you boasted that you were fairer
Than even Athena, incurring her anger
And spite. Was it for such a petty deed
That she betrayed you in your hour of need?
Poseidon saw you and chased you,
Eager to enjoy your body. You fled to
Athena’s temple, praying for safety.
But he violated the shrine and your body.
You screamed for help, but none came.
Athena, instead of answering your prayer,
Was furious that her temple was befouled
And a priestess had broken her vow.
A priestess had broken her vow,
But

Hades and Persephone
A Hades in his own right
lonely and his nights were cold
though the friends of his childhood
kept careful watch o'er his treasures untold,
He found a maiden peaceful there
among the thick rich greens
and tempted her with flowers and jewels
and took her as though a fiend,
She withered in his castle
no light for her hair to glisten
but unlike the evil he so stood reflected
he took heart and stopped to listen,
He sent her back to home and heart
though she took his own in her hand
and once a year returned whistfully
to set a wint'ry glow about his land.

Actually, Queen Elizabeth I was supposedly unvirginal as it was recorded that Sir Robert Dudley had gone into the Good Queen's bedchambers at night often while they were 'courting' and would not leave until hours later, the sun just rising. This ended when Elizabeth had found Sir Robert had a wife. Robert murdered his wife and placed her body on Elizabeth's steps to show her that his wife had meant nothing to him and that all his love was to Elizabeth and only Elizabeth. But alas, Elizabeth had already declared that she had taken a husband; England. She was known as the Virgin Queen only because she had never truly married and if you were unwedd during the era of time they lived in, then you were considered virginal, unless of course you had a proven track-record of men instead of just one or two, then you were just a whore.
